Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Objective
This program is designed to give university graduates masters and doctoral candidates, and young professionals and artists opportunities for personal development and international experience. Grantees plan their own programs. Projects may include university course work, independent library and field research, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination of these.

Eligibility Requirements
U.S. Citizenship
Advanced graduate students working on doctoral dissertations are preferred. However, serious consideration will be given to Master’s degree-level students and recent BA/BS graduates who present significant study or research projects and establish an affiliation with a academic institution for coursework or research support.
Proficient spoken and written Spanish at the time of application. However, flexibility in the language requirement may be considered depending on the project.

Award
Round trip international travel, monthly stipend and health insurance.

Dates
9 months - The Uruguayan academic year is from March to November and candidates are strongly encouraged to plan their stay for those months since universities are closed during December, January and February and, therefore, little academic work can be accomplished.
