During the summer months, many US universities offer short courses
which may serve as an introduction to student life in such an
institution, or as a way of earning credit towards an undergraduate
degree.
The atmosphere is generally more flexible than
during the rest of the year, and many of these courses have do not
have the regular admissions requirements. The cost of tuition is
often lower.
