1.2. Visiting Scholars


Aim:
To allow Uruguayan scholars to carry out a research project at one leading institution in the United States. Scholars may also be invited to lecture at another university and/or college

Field of study:
For the year 2006: Journalism
For the Fulbright/INIA joint grant: Agriculture and Food Sciences

Benefits:
  • Professional affiliation with a US university or research institution
  • Funds for maintenance, international travel to and from the US, health insurance
  • Become a member of the Fulbright alumni network

Requirements:
  • Uruguayan citizenship
  • Professional degree
  • Proficiency in English
  • Detailed statement of proposed activity for research
  • Proof of publications
  • Over 35 years of age
  • Return home for at least two years at the end of the program
  • Commitment to the Fulbright goal of mutual understanding
  • While it is not necessary to have a letter of invitation from a US institution, we encourage applicants who have preliminary contacts to identify them and if possible, include such a letter

Length of program: 2/3 months in the US, between January and December 2006

Deadlines: The application form may be requested at the Fulbright Commission starting June 15 and must be completed and returned (with supporting documents) no later than August 15 before 1 p.m.
