1.3. Fulbright American Studies Institutes



These are 6 week courses which take place during summer of the northern hemisphere. They are intended for university faculty who teach courses with a content which refers to the culture of the United States.

Fields of study
  • Managing diversity: the American experience
  • US political development: ideas and institutions
  • US Foreign Policy: foundations and formulation
  • Contemporary American Literature
  • Religion: pluralism and public presence
  • The US Constitution: origins, evolution and contemporary issues
  • The Civilization of the US: an introduction
  • US National Security in an Era of Globalization

The topics offfered may vary every year, according to the available funding.


Requirements
  • Hold a teaching position at university level
  • Young or mid-career
  • Teaching experience
  • Little or no prior study in the US
  • Currently teaching a course with content related to US culture
  • Program relevance to the contents of those courses being taught by the candidate

Applications
  • February/March
