1.2. Financial Aid

1.2.4. What is the difference between a scholarship and financial aid?

A scholarship is a financial award based on merit: excellent academic performance, community service, leadership. Financial aid, on the other hand, is granted based on the student's financial need, as documented by family income and assets, and other factors. There are also sports scholarships for demonstrated athletic ability and scholarships for other special talents such as music and fine arts. All types of scholarships and financial aid are extremely competitive and require excellent academic records.
